Advanced Materials Research Center

Welcome aboard!

Advanced Materials Research Center (AMRC) is part of Center of Excellence in Energy Availability for Net Zero Initiative (UI NZI), under Interdisciplinary Engineering Education and Research Unit (P2IK), Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia. The establishment of this research center is driven by an understanding that the wide applicability of the research results will find their practical uses in industries and scientific disciplines.

AMRC consists of several research group: Computational Materials, Mesoporous Materials, Photocatalysis, Nanodevice, Nanostructured Energy Materials, and Functional Polymer Materials. The applications of nanomaterials have escalated in the last fifteen years and are currently gaining momentum. In this context, Indonesia is very rich in local minerals that can be used as precursors for the development of nanostructured materials.

Our current excellent project, in collaboration with the National Research and Innovation Agency, is to process the local minerals of ilmenite and tin through bottom-up approach of wet-chemistry process to form inorganic semiconductor oxides of titanium dioxide and tin oxide with various shape, i.e., nanoparticles, nanorod, nanowire, nanotube, nanoflower, and size. We also explore the use of local plantations as the reductor and templating for the nano-shape formation. The next step is to apply these obtained nanostructures as solar energy harvesting and energy storage materials, as well as photocatalyst for organic pollutant degradation.
